On Walk and Roll to School Day 2010, the Sebastopol SRTS program is unveiling its Safe Routes Map.  The Sebastopol SRTS Task Force comprised of representatives from Sebastopol Public Works, Sebastopol City Council, the Sebastopol Police Department, school administers, concerned parents, and SRTS staff has worked to identify safe routes to all of the schools in the city.  This process helped Sebastopol Public Works identify priority areas of improvement which resulted in actual infrastructure changes.

The Sebastopol City Council has proclaimed October 6th as Walk and Roll to School Day.  Councilmembers Sarah Glade-Gurney and Kathleen Schaffer will meet with students and parents in front of the Vet’s building and depart in “walking school buses” to the various Sebastopol Union Schools.  Sebastopol Police will give a brief safety talk before the walk and the councilmembers and sponsor FedEx will speak.
