Schools Ready to Walk and Roll

Petaluma 360: October 5th, 2010

Six Petaluma elementary schools will be participating in the annual Walk and Roll to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 6.

Three of the Old Adobe Union School District’s elementary schools — La Tercera, Miwok Valley and Sonoma Mountain — will participate. The Waugh School District’s two elementary schools, Corona Creek and Meadow, and River Montessori Charter School also will take part.

Walk and Roll to School Day is designed to educate students and their parents about safely walking and biking to school, and encourages students to do so. Part of the purpose of the day is to have students walk or bike to school, and some schools also hold additional activities during school hours.

The event is being sponsored by Safe Kids Sonoma County, Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, Santa Rosa Street Smarts, iWalk, Kaiser Permanente, Network for a Healthy California and FedEx.
